By way of keeping you updated on the improvements and changes we are making, we hope you will find the following of interest:

Having read through hundreds of ‘Guest feedback’ forms and by listening to what ‘YOU’ our guests have to say, we are continually giving this much treasured old lady a touches of cosmetic surgery and TLC now and then! We have also started a 'Green Awarness' drive which we hope will have a real benificial effect on environmental impact.

GREEN ISSUES:

Gas: Despite the great expence of replacing our water heating system, the condensing boilers and calorifier water heaters, have managed to cut down our gas consumtion in the last year by just over 150,000kw which is fantastic!

Electricity: All the corridors now have sensor lighting and most bulbs have been changed to the energy saving type. We hope that you will help us and turn off any items not being used whilst in or on leaving your bedroom.

Water: Our water usage is massive as you can imagine but nearly all our lavatories now have dual flush and we hope again that you will help when having showers or baths. You may notice we have put the now common signs, regarding the changing of linens in your rooms and we now also use more natural cleaning products.

Recycling: We recycle wherever we can; Paper, Cardboard, Glass and Plastic are all now sent for recyling.

on to OTHER THINGS...

the Conservatory Restaurant now open in the evenings: Many of you have been requesting a lighter option for evening dining, so with this in mind the Conservatory Restaurant will be open from 7-9pm every evening. Families may also dine together in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, choosing from a creative and interesting menu. 

Our TREATMENT ROOM is now open. Tucked up on the top floor you can relax and be soothed with one of the many treatments on offer from Hot Stones, Aromatherapy, Indian head or face massage and more. This is a welcome addition as we help you to unwind at the Alexandra.

We hope you like the new look RECEPTION, SITTING ROOM and BAR areas which we feel have lifted and lightened the whole area.

New BEDROOM and BATHROOM design – All but four of our twenty four bedrooms are now fully refurbished and looking great. This has been a rather mammoth undertaking but the new ones are looking fantastic and the feedback from you all has been wonderful – thank you. To make the most of our new high pressure showers we have had to replace the whole hotel water system, which meant changing to mains pressure throughout the building. By doing so our guests also now have fresh mains drinking water in every room.
